First Nations Tutor – Talent Pool

AFTRS is Australia's Screen and Broadcast School, established to fuel and empower Australian creativity and storytelling. AFTRS is consistently rated as one of the top film schools in the world.

This talent pool may be used to fill upcoming tutor roles within the Teaching & Learning team on a casual basis.  We are looking for experienced screen content and radio broadcast tutors and mentors from all over Australia to join our team. 

About the Role:

You may be teaching remotely via Zoom from your home anywhere in Australia, teaching in a partner venue or mentoring a student in your home state or teaching and mentoring at AFTRS if you are based in Sydney.

Working closely with heads of discipline, subject leaders and with a team of other tutors, you might find yourself teaching or mentoring students in the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production (BASP) course, in the Graduate Diploma: Radio course, or the Master of Arts: Screen. You could be asked to work regionally delivering courses to community as part of our outreach program, or delivering short course, industry courses or corporate professional development programs within partner organisations.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the School as we look to increase our national reach and presence beyond NSW.

About You

Ideally, you will be a screen content creator or Radio broadcaster with solid professional credits and experience of teaching, coaching, mentoring or facilitating.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  1. a minimum of 3-years of industry experience creating content in one or more of the above roles.
  2. the ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  3. the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.
  4. strong interpersonal skills, working collaboratively in a team.
  5. demonstrated cultural competence.

Ideally you will hold relevant tertiary qualifications, but it’s not a deal-breaker for us. If you have solid experience, we want to hear from you!

Salary: ACA2.7 $94,077 (pro-rata) plus up to 15.4% super and excellent benefits.
