FRAIM, celebrating and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander video-makers working in remote parts of Australia.
ABOUT FRAIM
FRAIM is a gathering of Indigenous video-makers from around remote Australia for four days of workshops, peer to peer sharing, showcasing of work and discussions about issues specific to the Indigenous screen sector in remote and very remote areas of Australia. FRAIM specifically targets the needs of Indigenous screen practitioners who reside in geographically isolated areas and provides them with opportunities that are ordinarily not available to them.
In addition to targeted workshops, the FRAIM program also includes a film festival with two nights of public video screenings and the bi-annual ICTV Video Awards.
FRAIM was held in 2022 from October 3-6, 2022. Preliminary dates for the next FRAIM event are October 7-11, 2024.
WORKSHOPS
For FRAIM 2022 workshops ran concurrently on October 4, 5 and 6, 2022.
Each of the five workshops were designed to focus on a specific type of content such as, producing funny stories, covering news in Indigenous languages, documenting stories of Indigenous rights, multi-camera coverage of live and sequential events and producing music video clips.
Delegates were required to nominate their preferences for workshops at the time of registration.
The workshops were held at the Desert Knowledge Precinct, 475 South Stuart Highway, Alice Springs and at ICTV at 10b Wilkinson Street, Alice Springs.
REGISTRATION
FRAIM 2022 Skills Workshops were an invitation only event for Indigenous screen practitioners who were living in geographically isolated areas of Australia and who had provided video content to ICTV since May 2019.
The purpose of the five training workshops was to support emerging and mid-career Indigenous screen practitioners to improve their skills and in turn, the quality of the video material they are producing. The workshops were open to Indigenous Australian ICTV content contributors only.

ICTV VIDEO AWARDS
The ICTV Video Awards celebrate the very best of content on ICTV. In 2022, nine awards were judged through ICTV’s peer assessment process, with another four awards presented. The awards were held at the Alice Springs Cinema on October 6, 2022 and broadcast live on ICTV and can be viewed here.

SCREENINGS
Over two nights a program of videos in-competition was held at Sunset Hill at Discovery Caravan Park on Tuesday and Wednesday night (October 4 and 5). The program is available here.
All screenings were free.
